Rachmaninov Vespers at Cranbrook

  • St Dunstan's Church Stone street Cranbrook Kent (map)

The focus for this concert is Rachmaninov’s All-night Vigil, an intimate, meditative piece said to be among the composer’s favourites.

Premiered in Moscow in March 1915 as a war benefit, this extraordinary set of a cappella choral vespers for a four-part choir is full of complex harmonies; at one point in the seventh movement the choir is divided into 11 parts!

7.30pm 26th April 2025 at St Dunstan’s Chirch, Cranbrook
